Objective:This clinical research and observation on acupoint catgut embedding therapy is to provide an effective treatment for patients who have constipation after stroke by using Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).Methods:For using contrast study method, selected group of 40 patients were randomly divided into two groups. Patients in a control group received acupoint catgut embedding therapy twice a week whereas patients in an experimental group received acupuncture thrice a week. After 4 weeks of treatment for both groups, observe clinical effect of treatment based on TCM symptom scores and clinical symptom scores.Results:① Statistically, there were significant differences in the rate of improvement among groups (P< 0.05).② When comparing two groups by total clinical scores, time length and speed of defecation, there were significant differences (P< 0.05).Conclusion:1. Even though there was an improvement in constipation symptoms both for control and experimental group, overall treatment effect in control group is better.2. Patients in the control group experienced relatively high life improvement when compare to patients in the experimental group.
