Objective:To observe the changes of full-field electroretinography(ff-ERG) in affected and unaffected fellow eyes with central serous chorioretinopathy(CSCR) of the acute phase and compared with healthy controls so as to investigate the effect of CSCR on the full-field retinal function. Methods:Clinical case-control study was performed.45 patients with unilateral CSCR and 45 healthy control matched with age, sex and spherical equivalent were enrolled from January to December of 2015.All the subjects were underwent complete ophthalmologic examination, which included measurement of best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA), slit lamp microscope, fundus photography, and ff-ERG. Besides, patients with unilateral CSCR were underwent fundus fluorescein angiography(FFA) and indocyanine green angiography (ICGA).The ff-ERG was recorded with b wave of rod cell response (Rod-b), a wave and b wave of maximum response (Max-a and Max-b), oscillatory potentials (Ops), a wave and b wave of cone cell response (Cone-a and Cone-b) and b wave of 30 Hz flicker response (Flicker-b). The wave amplitudes and implicit times of 5 items of standard ff-ERG together with the rations of wave amplitude of Max-b to that of Max-a (b/a) were compared between two groups. We utilized SPSS 19.0 to analyses dates, and the difference was statistically significant when P<0.05.Results:1. In the detection of FFA,fluorescein leakage were visible in each affected eyes of CSCR,and in the examination of ICGA, choroidal telangiectasia and thickening were seen in affected eyes and 12 cases of unaffected fellow eyes demonstrated with different degrees of expansion and thickening of choriocapillaris.2.The wave amplitudes of 5 items of standard ff-ERG in acute CSCR eyes and unaffected eyes were significantly lower than those in healthy control group (P<0.01), and the implicit times of CSCR eyes were significantly longer than that in healthy control group (P<0.05),3.The wave amplitude reduction of Σ Ops was most obvious among the 5 items of ff-ERG,and the average decline was 39.31%.4.The ratios of wave amplitude of Max-b to that of Max-a (b/a) in CSCR eyes group were significantly higher than those in healthy control group (P<0.05).Conclusion:1. Ff-ERG has played a significant role in positioning the function changes of retinal layers and be more effective in assessing the changes of retinal function in both affected and unaffected eyes of CSCR. Thus, the ff-ERG can also be applied to evaluate the changes retinal function in CSCR.2. Besides the macular, CSCR also causes a decrease in the overall function of the retina.3. In the patients of CSCR,both the inner and outer retina were impaired, and the damage in the outer layers is much more severe than that in the inner layers.4. The defection of rod and cone cells was found before the visual change of the unaffected eyes, so more attention should also be paid on the changes of visual function in unaffected eyes when treating the affected eyes actively.5. The change of the Σ Ops was most obvious among the 5 items of ff-ERG, so improving of the microcirculation of retina should be concerned when curing the CSCR.
