Objective:To observe the changes of serum soluble platelet derived growth factor receptor alpha(sPDGFRα) levels in children with left to right shunt congenital heart disease(CHD) with pulmonary arterial hypertension(PAH),and explore the significance of sPDGFRα in pathological process of PAH associated with CHD(PAH-CHD).Methods:Select 66 children with left to right shunt CHD who were performed in the Children’s Hospital of Shanxi Province during the period between Sep.2012 and Jan.2013.There were no heart failure and/or the other severe complications accompanied with the children with CHD.They were classified into 4 groups:16 cases of no PAH group,18 cases of mild PAH group,17 cases of moderate PAH group, and 15 cases of severe PAH group with tricuspid regurgitation pressure differential method.Choose randomly twenty healthy children who had medical examination over the same period in the Children’s Hospital of Shanxi Province as the healthy control group. The serum levels of sPDGFRα were detected by double antibody sandwich ABC-ELISA method and were compared among groups. Results:The serum sPDGFRα levels were lower in the children of CHD without PAH than that the normal control group, but showed no significant difference( P>0.05).The serumsPDGFRα levels were lower notably in the children of CHD with PAH than that in the normal control group(P<0.05).The serum sPDGFRα levels were lower in the children of CHD with PAH compared with CHD children without PAH(P<0.05).The serum sPDGFRαlevels were decreased with the increase of degree of PAH in CHD-PAH, negatively correlated with corresponding PASP in mild PAH group, moderate PAH group and severe PAH group(r=-0.527,r=-0.700,r=-0.794)and showing significant difference(P<0.05).Conclusions:sPDGFRα might play an important role in delaying the formation of CHD-PAH,providing an new perspective that products related with sPDGFRα might have an positive effect on the treatment for children with PAH-CHD.But this remains to be further studied.
