| Objective : To discuss the reasonable and effective treatment for supratentorial cavernous hemangioma with epilepsy as first symptom and the influence of the factors of postoperative seizure control.Methods : There were seventy-six patients with epilepsy as first symptom of cerebral cavernous malformations admitted to ourdepartment and Neurology Department(January 2008-January 2014).25 cases who were unwilling to accept surgery choose to oral antiepileptic drugs. 51 patients underwent Micro-surgery: Microsurgery resection of lesions and focal epilepsy and continue to antiepileptic drug therapy after surgery.According to professor Tan Qifu therapeutic effect evaluation standard of epilepsy surgery,Regular follow-up of two groups of patients with epilepsy control situation(followed for more than a year).Result:The percengage of patients with seizure-free outcome was higher in the surgical group than in the medical group,There were statistical differences between the groups(P <0.05).â‘¡The percengage of patients with seizure-free outcome was higher in the surgical group than in the medical group,Prognosis of patients whose course of epilepsy is less than 1 year was much better than those whose course is more than 1 year(P=0.022),There were no statistical significances for epilepsy prognosis in sex,age, seizures form.Conclusion:Surgical intervention may provide greater benefits than medication to patients with cerebral cavernous malformations presenting with seizure.We recommend early surgical treatment;Factors affecting the effects of surgical treatment is the course of epilepsy. |
