Objective:To evaluate the clinical effects of extracorporeal shock wave therapy( ESWT)combined with core decompression for early osteonecrosis of the femoral head( ONFH).Methods:29 patients(32 hips) with early ONFH were diagnosed and followed up in our hospital from March 2013 to September 2015( ARCO stage I、II).All patients were divided into 2 groups: combining group(19 hips) and ESWT group(13 hips).Harris score was used to evaluate the clinical effects.Results:(1).The two groups were comparable.(2).Harris score of the two groups was better than pre-treatment after 3th、6th、12th month(P<0.05).(3).The score of combining group was significantly better than ESWT group after 6th month and 12 th month(P<0.01).(4).The combined therapy achieved higher steady rate(P < 0.05).(5).The Trendelenburg test of these patients were negative after the treatment, proving that two treatment method were both effective. The Squats velocity of joint group was obviously to speed up and close to normal suggesting the combined group was better than the single one.Conclusion:(1)ESWT and core decompression in the treatment of early osteonecrosis of the femoral head have definite clinical curative effect.(2)Based on these results,ESWT combined with core decompression appears to be more effective than the simple ESWT for early osteonecrosis of the femoral head.
