Objective:To study the recognition and the influencing factors of nutritional labels(KAP) in secondary and higher vocational schools in Yuncheng City and to provide the basis for health education.Methods:2159 students(the Yuncheng vocational school of nursing and the financial and economic college) were surveyed in the study. The database was established by Epidate3.0 software. In addition, quantitative data was described assx ±and compraesd by t-test,SNK-test and F-test. Furthermore, the categorical data was described as ‘ratio and proportion’ and non-conditional Logistic regression was ued to analyze.Results:1. Average score of the basic knowledge on nutrition labeling was 12.01±2.77,and the passing rate was 6.5%. Results of un-conditional multi-factor Logistic regression analysis showed that the score in medical students was higher than that of the other students. The main sources that college students acquire knowledge were television(79.2%), newspapers and magazines(51.4%), class(50.0%), relatives and friends(37.5%), others(13.5%) and unavailable(3.5%), respectively.2. The awareness rate of nutrition label, functional components and NRV% was44.5%, 16.9% and 8.5%.3. Among all the students, only 9.1% of them trusted the nutrition labeling, 67.9% of the students thought it was necessary to label the nutrient. In addition, 7.0%and 46.1% of the students thought that the nutrition functional ingredients was veryimportant and helpful for food selection.The result of non-conditional multi-factor regression analysis showed that fathers’ occupation of physical labor was a risk factor. However, female students and thebasic knowledge score were protective factors. Positive factors included students older than 18,nutrition course has leraned, the monthly cost of living was 600-999 yuan and nutrition labels related basic knowledge score more than 60%. These students believed that ntritional claims or nutritional ingredients claims was useful.4. The ratio of changing purchasing decision after reading nutrition table is 41.9%.60.0% students often buy prepackaged food while 18.8% reference the nutritionissue.Content of nutrition labeling was focused on product date and shelf life(61.8%),taste(28.2%), nutrition labeling(4.9%), brand(3.3%), ingredient and others(1.9%)respectively. 71.1% students ususlly aware the nutrition table, among which17.1%students check the nutrition table frequently. For these students, the sequence of theirpurpose of checking was having a look(28.2%), keeping nutrition balance(22.0%),reducing the intake of certain nutrients(21.0%), estimating energy intake(18.3%)and increasing some nutrition(9.9%). For nutrients, students focused on rankingfrom high to low were fat(75.5%), protein(69.8%), energy(62.3%) carbohydrates(31.1%), Na(19.5%).As for food, the ration ranking form high to low are milk and dairy products(70.6%), bread and biscuit(55.8%), drinks(46.6%), meat products(46.4%),others(13.7%). About 57.7%students claimed their attention to nutrition functions. The ratio of reasons for unavailable nutrition table ranked as follows: do not understand tables(37.4%), do not trust tables(26.4%), no necessary(20.1%), taking too much time(16.1%). The result of multiplefactor unconditional Logistic regression showed that positive protecting factors considering purchasing decision after reading nutrition tables would be helpful for female students. They thought it is necessary to presentnutrition tables, as well as its function is also good to choose and know nutrition components and NRV%.Conclusions:1. Low marks of related basic knowledge about nutrition labels, low awareness rate of nutrition labels and lack of enough attitude toward nutrition in the KAP of nutrition labels were observed in this study. In addition, some students believe a certain influence of nutrition labels on their purchase behavior.2. Medicine major and nutrition course are the favorable factors for the nutrition label related knowledge score. Hgh scores are important to the trust level, necessity and recognition degree on nutrition labels. Their purchasing decision was affected by knowledge score, awareness rate and positive attitude.
