BackgroundHepatitis B virus(HBV) infection in the world were higher, the evolution of different forms of HBV infection, including asymptomatic and self limiting state to a state of chronic infection, the latter for the development of liver cirrhosis, hepatocellular carcinoma and chronic hepatitis, and this is an important global public health and social the problem, interferon(IFN) is one of the effective antiviral therapy at present, and can effectively prevent disease progression. In recent years, a lot of big sample researchs have confirmed that IL28 B single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNP) can predict interferon treatment response in chronic hepatitis C virus independently, whether the same applies to interferon response to hepatitis B virus infection still need further discussion. PurposeThis study aimed at retrospectively analysis the relationship between host genetic background of interleukin 28 B gene SNP and interferon induced chronic hepatitis B(CHB) patients response. Materials and methodsFirst, We searched for literature retrieval in Pub Med, EMBASE and the Cochrane database, 7 qualified papers finally involved in this study. then we did a meta analysis about different response rate of interferon treatment to chronic hepatitis B patients in different IL28 B gene polymorphism. ResultIn terms of IL28 B single nucleotide polymorphisms, there is no significant association between rs12979860 and the response of interferon to HBe Ag positive chronic hepatitis B patients(0R=1.67, 95%CI:0.99-2.80, P = 0.05), and there is also no association in HBe Ag negative patients(OR=1.13, 95%CI:0.24-5.4, P = 0.87);the response of interferon to chronic hepatitis B has no significant correlation with rs8099917 on the IL28 B gene.(OR=1.53,95%CI:0.97-2.42,P=0.07)。 ConclusionIL28B gene polymorphism(including rs12979860, rs8099917 locus) were not significantly correlated with response of interferon to chronic hepatitis B patients.
