A Research On The Color Composition And Its Application In Digital Portrait Photography

The rapid development of digital photography technology shocked the portraitphotographic industry that largely reflected in wedding photography, which, at the sametime, opens a new prospect for this industry. With the development of social economy,people now enjoy a higher standard living both materially and spiritually. Therefore,aesthetic views of the customers have changed a lot such as the upgrading artisticaccomplishment and the improving aesthetic personality requirements. They expect to betaken beautiful and fashionable pictures, while the photographers wish to takeperfect pictures of the customers so as to improve his or her reputation, attract morecustomers as well as obtain more benefits.As a basic course in artistic design field, color composition is widely used indesign field. Up to now, it has become the dominant element in photographic picturewith the development of digital technology. Therefore, color constitution is vital for digitalportrait photography. As the saying goes that there are no ugly colors, but the uglycompositions. Thus, it is obvious that the acquisition of color constitution is of paramountsignificance for photography that the better the rules are acquired, the more beautiful thepicture will be. As a matter of fact that, a good picture is usually a completely newcomposition of colors after the theme is fully comprehended and the rules of colorcomposition are grasped. Therefore, it is very necessary to undertake such aresearch.The subject of this research is portrait photography and the application of colorconstitution in portrait photography at digital times is researched from four chapters asprofoundly as possible.Chapter one is mainly about the concept and the development of digital photographyin modern times. The notion and features of color constitution as well as its rules isexplained in this part with the help of the references and the significance of digitaltechnology in contemporary photography is also emphasized.Chapter two mainly concerns the analysis of the aesthetic demands and requirementsof the consumers. Moreover, the significance of color composition as well as someprinciples about combining colors in pictures is introduced under such demands of the customers.In chapter three, the research analyzes the colors like warm color and cool toned,high key and low key in portrait photography picture with the composition of pictures andtext. Moreover, the pictures with different styles and different artistic atmosphere are alsoresearched here. Besides, according to customers with different characteristics, at differentages and sizes, the design and application of colors is discussed so as to explore an idealcomposition.Chapter four makes a conclusion about the whole research, which points out the mainfindings including the prospect of digital portrait photography in the future and thelimitations of this research and makes suggestions for future research.Many theories in the present thesis are illustrated by both pictures and text. Sincephotography is a science to be acquired by pictures, the composition of both pictures andtexts facilitates the expression of the theme. As all the findings in this research has beentestified in practical portrait photography, the methods employed in this research is bothscientific and feasible, which is expected to be helpful for the developing research ofportrait photography in the future.
