The third and fourth series of The Archives of Macao contains nine demarcation maps ofMacao, and the maps concentrat in these two time periods--the late Qing dynasty and the earlyRepublic of China.It is benefit for the researchs of the demarcation history of China and Portugaland the historical geography of Macao.This paper is divided into four parts:The first chapter mainly studies on the backgrounds and basic types of these groupdemarcation maps of Macao and to do a more comprehensive discussion of the basic informationto grasp the overall map.The second chapter studies on the three demarcation maps of Macao in the late Qingdynasty. The boundary sketch of Macao is roughly drawn by the officials of the Ministry ofForeign Affairs of Qing dynasty,probably in twenty-eight years of Qing dynasty’s EmperorGuangxu(1902),but the content of the map is very simple; An overview map of macao inXiangshan county might be drawn by Gui Dian who made reference to the Geographical maps ofGuangdong Province·County map of Xiangshan,but there is a certain deviation in Jiuao Island(Coloane Island)and villages in Macao Peninsula; the Sketch map near Macau that occupiedby the Portuguese seems to be drawn by the complement Yunnan alternate magistrate TongZhenzao in the late Qing dynasty.The mutual position and morphology of the southern islands ofthe Macau Peninsula draw incorrect.The third chapter focuses on the the four Macau demarcation maps of the early Republicof China. The Jinghu map of Xiangshan County in Guangdon province seems to be drawn byYang Ruijie who based on the Channel Chart of Macao that painted by British Captain Peter in1804.And there are many notes written in English and chinese;the map that Portuguese warshipscrossed sea border thumbnail was hand-painted by the Guangdong Provincial officials of LuRongting and Zhu Qinglan, the author alleged explore the origin and impact of the “Guanzhaparallel lines”; the map near green Island is a topographic map that painted and published by thepeople who was sent by the Guangdong Bureau of Ordnance, The author interpreted the mainfeature of the Macao Peninsula in the north and Qianshan(in the south of Zhuhai City); the map of macao that had been occupied or not is drawn by a student in high school of XiangshanCounty, Content-rich but accurate drawing.Chapter IV focuses on the relationship between the old and new boundary map of Macaoin The Archives of Macao to the maps that similar to it.And sort out the range of the originallease land in Macau (or the old lease land, old accounted for land, etc.)that the whole groupdemarcation maps involves.
