Living Situation And The Development Of The Dialects In The Circumstance Of Promoting Putonghua

The current paper investigates the achievement and deficiency in the nationalpromotion of Putonghua. Using different research methods such as literature review,questionnaire method and disguised observation, the researcher analyzed theapplication and the living crisis of Fuzhou dialect in Fuzhou, discussing thefeasibility of promoting Putonghua and protecting Fuzhou dialect at the same time.The current paper will be divided into eight chapters. The first chapter ispreface, introducing the writing background and literature review. The secondchapter briefly describes the relationship between Putonghua and dialects. The thirdchapter presents the history and phonological system of Fuzhou dialect. ChapterFour discusses the degree of promotion of Putonghua in Fuzhou. According to theresearch, the research finds out that Putonghua has already become the officiallanguage, teaching language, media language and service language. In the urbandistrict of Fuzhou, the frequency of Fuzhou dialect utilization is much lower thanthat of Putonghua. The living condition of Fuzhou dialect gradually worsens. Thedevelopment of Fuzhou dialect is in jeopardy.Chapter Five investigate theapplication of Fuzhou dialect in Fuzhou using a network-based questionnaire.Chapter Six analyzes the reasons of the declination of Fuzhou dialect. Chapter Sevendiscusses the necessity of protecting Fuzhou dialect and Fuzhou culture and relatedfeasible methods. The government suggests that we should build a society withlanguage harmony in the background of multiculturalism. Fuzhou dialect, as thecarrier of Fuzhou culture, has abundant cultural and linguistic value. Therefore, weshould put forward the feasible methods to protect Fuzhou dialect on the premise ofpromoting Putonghua. Inheritance and protection of Fuzhou dialect can only beachieved by combing government, media, schools and families together. It should beclarified that there is no conflict between the serviceable range of Putonghua andFuzhou dialect. Putonghua can be used in public area, while Fuzhou dialect can beused as the family language.Chapter Eight is a summary of the whole paper.Under the background of promoting Putonghua and protecting dialects, thecurrent paper is only a case study of Fuzhou dialect, which can give a glimpseof theliving situation of dialect under the promotion of Putonghua and work as a referencefor the investigation of other dialects.
