A Study Of "You" Sentences In Fuzhou Dialect From The Perspective Of System Function Theory

For a long time,the "You" sentence in Fuzhou dialect has been regarded as a special grammatical sentence pattern,its performance in syntax and form has been deeply studied by many researchers.However,it is relatively rare to conduct a comprehensive investigation of it from the perspective of meaning performance.This paper uses Cardiff s grammatical theory,the theoretical branch of systemic functional linguistics,to conduct a comprehensive analysis of the meaning and function of the sentence "You",and examine the entry conditions of each component of the sentence pattern,as well as the meaning and function of the word "You".Then compare the results with the "You"sentence in Mandarin.This article is composed of six parts.The first part is the introduction chapter.This chapter clarifies the research object,purpose,method and source of corpus,and summarizes the current research situation of "You" sentence from the three aspects of dialect,Mandarin and evolution..This part also briefly describes the theoretical background of this article,Cardiff’s grammatical model,and its application in Chinese research.The second part is the transitivity analysis of "You" sentences in Fuzhou dialect.It mainly examines the process types of "You" sentences and the access potential of each component.The results show that "You" sentences can involve six types of process types.And the role types of participants are rich.The predicate after the word "You" needs to have the semantic characteristics of[+dynamic]and[-permanent inherent].The third part analyzes the interpersonal function of the "You" sentence in Fuzhou dialect.The "You"sentence has multiple types of interpersonal functions in three aspects:verbal function,tone type and modality.This provides a new perspective for the study of "You"sentences.The fourth part is a syntactic analysis chapter.This chapter summarizes the meaning of the word "You".The results show that the word "You" in the Fuzhou dialect has the five meanings of affirmation,ability,possibility,willingness and obligation.This chapter also discusses the relationship between the word "You" and time,and confirms its syntactic function in Cardiff’s grammar system."You" can explain the auxiliary verb component and operative word component of the clause.The fifth part is the comparison between dialects and Mandarin.It mainly examines the specific manifestations and new phenomena of the evolution of "You" sentences after entering Mandarin.The comparison results show that the meaning of "You" sentences in Mandarin does not have the rich usage in dialects.However,there are also new usages of "You" in Mandarin,such as "有+被+X+到".The last part is the conclusion and prospect of this article.First,it summarizes the viewpoints of the full text,and then looks forward to the shortcomings of this article and the future research.
