The Study Of Christianity Localization Process In Yunnan Minority Areas

Localization is an important path that Christianity got into the minority areas and thenintegrated with the minority society of Yunnan. Since entering the minority society,Christianity interacted with every force, and started its localization process. Throughthe study of Christianity localization process, we can clearly see the history that howChristianity spread and developed in minority areas of Yunnan, and understand themutually constitutive relationship between Christianity and minority society. Inaddition, I hope that this study will enrich the content of the study of Sinolization ofChristianity. In this paper, I take Sapushan Community of Wuding as the researchobject, and study the history of Christianity’s spread and development deeply, andthen summarize the performance, influential factors and problems of Christianlocalization, and propose appropriate countermeasures and suggestions.There are several parts of the paper. Introduction mainly includes researchbackground, significance, literature review, theoretical space, academic vision andideas, the main research content, difficulties, innovation and research methods. Themain contents of the first chapter is the social situation of Sapushan beforeintroduction of Christianity, the spread and development of Christianity, the impact ofChristianity on Sapushan Community. In the second chapter, the history of SapushanChristianity is divided into three stages, namely the basic stage, stagnation stage,transformation stage, and I will summarize the localization performance of each stage.The third chapter discusses the influential factors of Christianity localization process,which including the social needs of Sapushan, the political, economic and culturalfactors, the missionary strategy of Christianity and so on. The fourth chapterdescribes the problems of Christian localization process in every stage, and the focusis the basic stage and transformation stage. Corresponding the problems intransformation stage, the fifth chapter puts forward the correspondingcountermeasures and suggestions on government level, Christianity level and masseslevels.The paper argues that Christianity and Sapushan Miao society are mutually constitutive. They influence each other, and changes jointly, and word together topromote the Christian localization process. In the new period, we should take actionsto restore the relationship between Christianity and minority back to mererelationship of Religion and Ethnic, and actively guide Christianity to adapt tosocialist society.
