In recent years, the spatial turn has been suggested in social scienceand gained a growing number of attentions by many disciplines. Meanwhile,as the public sense of spatial justice has been awaking, the visible andinvisible injustice in spatial structures of cities and districts wasincreasingly questioned. Due to the critical consciousness of spatialjustice, a new way of thinking is provided for the needs of social scienceand public. This dissertation went through the development of spatial justice, gained insight into it by reviewing the related thoughts of David Harvey,Henri Lefebvre, Edward Soja and other scholars and generalized theresearch fields of spatial justice in different perspectives. Thethinking of spatial justice was originated from Harvey, who appliedjustice in urban geographical environments. It concerns the processes ofresults and relevant social departments, as well as the equality ofresource allocation in the context of capitalistic urban development, which has a strong tendency of sociality; Lefebvre produced the right tocity and made further exploration than Harvey. Seeking the right to thecity is a continuous and more radical effort at spatial reappropriation, claiming an active presence in all that takes place in urban life undercapitalism. Based on existing studies, Soja discussed spatial justice ina postmodern context. On the understanding of spatial justice, critical theories challengedestablished epistemology, and produced a trialect of sociality, historicity, and spatiality. This trialectical thinking also promotes thetransition from social justice to spatial justice. Spatial justice mainlyreflected in the field of politics, geographical differences and areasfrom micro, meso and macro perspectives. Micro perspective relates thinking from the development of the city and urban politics. Meso andmacro perspectives mainly refer to the uneven regional development, thedevelopment of country®ion under globalization and environmentalprotection. The research on spatial justice is still on its exploring stage. Thedefinition of spatial justice is still under discussion, which aims topromote diversified human development. Based on the production ofinjustice, the focus of future should be more on the spatial justice insocial background. To solve social problems in the context of socialtransformation in China, with the help of critical thoughts of spatialjustice, new epistemologies and methodologies should be established, thethoughts can be applied in different scales of social development, andequity compensation and public participation can be established andadvanced.
