Study On The Poem-method Of The Four Greatest Poets In The Resurgence Period Of Southern Song Dynasty

In the period of the Southern Song Dynasty, Lu You, Yang Wanli, Fan Chengdaand You Mao are one of the most important poet groups. They bring about newpoem-method by the theory and practice compared with traditional poem-method.Meanwhile, they reverse the bad tendency of ‘Jiangxi Poem-method’, opening up anew path for Song Dynasty Poem-method. The most important contribution is thatthey put forward export-oriented poem-method views, broadening the performancespace of poem-method. This reflects the unique background of the Southern SongDynasty.The four greatest poets inherited Poem-method from Du Fu’s, the Su Shi’s(stand for nature), the Huang Tingjian’s (seemingly dull but has the rich connotation)and the flexible method during the transitional period from Northern Song Dynastyto Southern Song Dynasty. But as a result of various factors, such as differentpersonal experiences, their views on theories and skills are not the same. Lu Youstrongly advocated your skills outside of poems. His aesthetic style is in power andnature. While Yang Wanli proposed to learn from natural (no-rules is the only rule).His poems’ style is combined with lively and interesting. In the meantime, FanChengda and You Mao’ s pursuit of poem-method and aesthetic taste are close toYang Wanli’s. As one poet group, they share a common tendency of export-orientedpoem-method. Their works represent the poems’ highest level of the Southern SongDynasty, widely accepted as the later. Their poetic styles open a new page of style oflate Tang Dynasty which is advocated by four poets in Yongjia, and also have greatinfluence on Jiang-hu Poetry School, such as Dai Fugu and Liu Kezhuang. Later,critics in Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasty continue keep their attention to the fourgreatest poets. But in order to express their unusual poetic views, they have differentopinions on the four. All in all, the four greatest poets play an important role on thehistory of the development of the Song Dynasty poetry, especially on thedevelopment of poem-method.
