Study On Decorative Art Featuers And Development Of Pizhou Paper-plastic Lion

Xuzhou, as an ancient city, has a long cultural tradition. Having experienced withthe baptism of history, Xuzhou is rich of historical and cultural heritage. Known as thebirthplace of both Eastern and Western Han Dynasty, many historical relics from thisage have been unearthed gradually. Beyond that, variable folk arts have been inheritedthrough years, among which Paper Plastic Lion Mask in Pi Zhou city (hereafterreferred as Lion Mask) is one of the most typical representatives. In the past fewcenturies, the Lion Mask is referred as the media of folk culture communication, liondancing, and is commonly be seen during the celebration activities for differentseasons and traditional festivals in Shandong, Henan, Anhui and so on. As part oftraditional Chinese folk art, the Lion Mask is the crystallization of the diligence,boldness and intelligence of people from Pizhou, reveling their innovation, reflectingtheir honesty and representing the wishes for the better life.Developing for centuries, the Lion Mask has formed the artistic characters ofexaggerated modeling and rich color. It is of simple declaration but with profoundmessage. All the above features have attached the Lion Mask high value of culturalresearch. Adopting the method like Documentary Research, Field Investigation,Comparative Analysis and Chart Analysis, and combined with the regionalbackground and local folk culture, this thesis mainly focuses on the deep analysis andresearch in respect of decorative arts, aesthetic features and cultural connotation, andfurther make the development prospect. The analysis of decorative arts is divided into3parts, modeling, color and pattern. And the comparison between the Lion Mask inPizhou city and other areas has also been mentioned. Aiming at the industrialdevelopment of the Lion Mask, the author also put forwards some suggestions,looking forward to that the Lion Mask, could be inherited and be developed asintangible cultural heritage of China all the time through social efforts of all partsconcerned.Through a series of research, this thesis presents the impact and influence to theLion Mask from modern market economy and aesthetics. On account of this, it isnecessary to take effective measures to protect this folk art and form the developmentview based on ethnic characteristics.
