Study On The Development Actuality And Solutions Of Wuxi City College Dragon And Lion Dance Society

This paper makes an intensive research and analysis on the Dragon and Lion Dance Society in Wuxi City College by means of documents, questionnaire survey, expert interview and mathematical statistics. On this basis and considering the actual situation of Wuxi City College and the information feedback of teachers and students, this paper explores a series of problems in the Society’s teaching staff actuality, finance security actuality and group activities actuality. These problems, for example, are college leaders’ less attention to and support for the Society; frequent member flow of the Society and low motivation among teachers and students; deficienciesofthe finance security system and the training system; lack of professional teachers and coaches’ lacking in both coaching ability and working years; obsolete teaching content and unscientific inner management of the Society. Accordingly, solutions are put forward, on the one hand to better develop the Dragon and Lion Dance Society in Wuxi City College in a systematic and scientific way, on the other hand to serve as a theoretical reference and a practical basis for the development of other traditional ethnic sports societies in Wuxi City College. Conclusions1. There are qualified equipments, certain admiration from college leaders, enough funds to support regular activities of these students’ organizations, which are all that fit the need for carrying out of “Dragon and Lion Dance”. Therefore,, it’s practical to undertaking it in Wuxi City College.2. The “Dragon and Lion Dance” in Wuxi City College is not only a important way to inherit and promote the Chinese culture, but also provide the advice and necessities in developing and augmenting courses, enriching college culture, promoting students’ comprehensive qualities and others.3. The less attention to and less support for the Dragon and Lion Dance Society from leaders in Wuxi City College have had influence on the Society’s daily management and the training motivation of its teachers and students, which has hindered the development of the Dragon and Lion Dance Society. Therefore, in order to the better development of Wuxi city learning dragon dance lion dance club, college leaders should give enough emphasis on community and support, encourage its better development.4. The Society’s member flow is more frequent and students’ motivation is not strong and the propaganda is not enough. As a result, more propaganda for dragon and lion dance should be made. The degree of recognition for dragon and lion dance from college teachers and students should be enhanced. Selective course of dragon and lion dance should be set up. The development and popularization work of dragon and lion dance sports should be supported at a policy level.5. Lack of funding and single source of funding are two problems existing in the development project of Wuxi City College Dragon and Lion Dance Society. Suggestions, such as improving the funding system, simplifying the funding procedure and encouraging to seek funding sources independently, are made to broaden the sources of funding, so as to solve the two problems mentioned above.6. The number of coaches in Wuxi City College Dragon and Lion Dance Society is not enough. In addition, they tend to be younger in age, at a low educational level, have a short teaching service time and low coaching abilities. All these mentioned restrict the improvement in action skills learning of the dragon and lion dance. Therefore, the selection scope of coaches should be expanded and coaches should be encouraged to take part in various forms of training. Graduates should be encouraged to return to school to teach.7. During the training process, the teaching content is obsolete and the teaching method is unscientific and non-standard, lacking ideological guidance and cultural education for the Society’s members. Coaches are advised to alter their original ideas during the practical training teaching process. They should integrate teaching resources, integrate teaching content and change teaching methods according to the students and the College. They should attach importance to the Society members’ cultural education and ideological guidance. They should also cultivate and develop students’ learning interest and motivation.8. The Society lacks standard and scientific management and lacks relevant administrative staff. It is suggested that the College Youth League Committee or the College instructors who have related society management experience serve as advisers in order to assist the coaches with the scientific, standard and reasonable management.
