Popular songs, as a popular culture, not only reflect the changes of social valuesand life styles, but also record the Chinese emotional trend in different periods.Therefore, the study focusing on the love narrative in popular songs is very necessary.This paper, which is based on the study of the texts of popular love songs during thepast reforming and opening thirty years, combs the history of love songs throughoutthe1980’s, the1990’s and the new century, eventually finds out that people’semotional expressions have experienced the changes from implicit innocence toconcrete reality, then, to multiple complex. From the narrative elements, the lovenarrative of contemporary popular songs contains good stories, its two narrativeperspectives contain the heterosexual one and homosexual one. And among popularsongs, the narrative person is changed from "we " to " I ". From the overall view ofthe love narrative in contemporary popular songs, a significant value of it lies in thatyoung people can find a way or a channel to express love. Meanwhile, thecharacteristic value represented in the text can be divided into specific love is thehighest type,old do not forget to type,adhere to the type for love,the love game type,love ismaterialized type and lust love type.
