Study On The Drug Problem In Tianjin During Japanese Invasion Of China

The Japanese invaders implemented drug activities wantonly in the city of Tianjin duringthe Anti-Japanese War. They used drugs as special weapons to physically kill resistanceability of the Chinese people. At the same time they robbed a large amount of wealth asfunding for the war. The puppet regime in Tianjin founded Tianjin anti drug bureau asadministrative organization. This anti drug bureau implemented kinds of “anti drug” laws andregulations to encourage the production, circulation and consumption of drugs. These lawsmade Tianjin into “drug center”. Specifically, they forced people to grow opium, openedfactories to produce drugs, induced people to smoke drugs and imposed all kinds of opium taxor surcharge fee.The Japanese drug activities caused endless trouble to future. According to incompletestatistics, Tianjin has a population of1.7million people in1945, and more than one in six ofthem are drug addicts.
