Translation Report Of An Exploration Of The Social Service Role Strain, Social Service Role Stress And Empowerment Of Frontline Police Officers In China

The thesis is a translation report of English-Chinese translation. The translationtask is the doctoral dissertation of an instructor from Criminal Investigation Law Schoolof Southwest University of Political Science&Law, An Exploration of the SocialService Role Strain, Social Service Role Stress and Empowerment of Frontline PoliceOfficers in China. The doctoral dissertation consists of twelve chapters, and the authorchooses Chapter One, Chapter Seven, Chapter Nine and Chapter Eleven.In the process of translation, the author adopts Yan Fu’s translation principle of“Faithfulness, Expressiveness and Elegance” as a guidance.Faithfulness means thatthe versions must follow the originals faithfully and should not have conflicts with theoriginals in meaning and ideas. Expressiveness means that the versions must be clearand fluent, but not stick to the originals too much. Elegance means that the translatorshould choose the proper words and sentences to make the versions suitable for thestyles of the originals. The doctoral dissertation is a popular science article featured byscience, objectivity and so on. In the process of translation, the author mainly usesliteral translation. The translation report consists of four parts. The first part is theintroduction of the translation task that makes an introduction of the source, the task andthe client’s requirements. The second part discusses the process of the whole translation,including the preparation, the procedure and the revision. The third part is analysis ofthe cases. Through the specific cases, the author points out difficulties in translating andoffers the correspondent solutions. The forth part summarizes experience from thetranslation.
