In The Southwest Of China, The Custom Of Witch And Ghosts Between The Middle Ages

In the southwest of China,the custom of witch and ghosts has been very popular, which can be seen in many documents in our country. The Middle Ages is an important period of the development of the culture of witch and ghost,which has complicated reasons to explain its formation and is deeply rooted in Chinese history and culture. The range of the culture of witch and ghost covers the belief,various activities on witchcraft and all kinds of social relationships. Also, the culture changes in accordance with different time.This paper is divided into five chapters. Chapter I defines all relevant concepts on the topic, including witches, witch and ghost and witch-ghost culture. Chapter II analyzes the witch-ghost culture in the southwest of China on its reason and pattern. The reason why this culture formed includes geographic environment and the social soil, which involves factors of geography, climate, economy, culture, and politics.The basic form of witch-ghost culture includes belief in witch and ghost, witches and witchcraft as well as the relationship with society. Chapter III focuses on the witch-ghost culture in the southwest of China in different areas, which is divided into witch culture in Chongqing, witch culture in Sichuan, witch culture in Yunnan and Guizhou. Chapter IV discusses the characteristics and the changes of the witch-ghost culture in the southwest of China. Chapter V discusses the nature of witch-ghost culture and offers some personal thoughts on this issue.
