Shen Congwen is a very important person in the 20th century literary. He had actived in three to four decades on behalf of the Chinese literary,and he also silenced over a period of time for Historical reasons.With the liberation of the ideological system, the number of reaearching about Shen Congwen is growing since 1980s. No matter he is unkonwn or having great reputations, this master of modern literature has always been adhering to his own ideals and Literatures, applied himself to writing his hometown of Xiangxi.Shen Congwen's creattion mainly divided into two types:One is taking his hometown life as the theme,another is based on the theme of city life. The former praised the simplicity of xiangxi's folk customs through the description of the original and natural form of life, the latter reveals the loss of natural urban through the description of city life. In contrast, the writer give more favorite in the hometown. The prominent feature of Xiangxi series in the works is the description of witch culture,which is obviously or obscurely through the author's writing.Witch is an ancient Primitive culture in the human development process in order to adapt to the formation of natural and transform the natural. In the history of the Chinese nation, It has been matured and improved by a series of inheritance and development, and has become an important component of multi-cultural part.the witch-culture description in Shen Congwen's creation has its specific causes and connotations.One raason is that witch-culture is the feature of xiangchu culture,the writer has a deep feeling on it and takes many in his works.The other reason is that xiangxi world is no longer a Utopian ideal under the impact of urban civilization,but the Writer also want to retain the original natural living style,so he chosen the witch cultuer to experss his ideal.As a result of witch culture itself has a quality which making the writer has a unique measure of value and philosophy.This article is to explore this cultural phenomenon on the basis of reading works.This paper has four parts except for introduction.The introduction is mainly on the present situation and the Significance of this research. The first chapter from a geographic perspective to discuss the development of Xiang Chu culture and witch cultural. The second chapter has a analysis on the original form of natural and witch cultural phenomenon. Chapter three is the core of the work,it has a dicussion on the impact of the novel style from three respects: the lyrical way,the aesthetic implications and the narrative features. The fourth Chapter is to conduct a comprehensive summary.
