The relationship between literature and film is not a new topic. From the date of birthfilm and literature have all kinds of connections. Especially, the social environment isgradually loose from the new period, and mass culture develops rapidly. Because of this, writers become attached to films one after another. Most of Chi Li’s novels are bought bydirectors at high prices, embodying the interconnection between the novels andscreenplays. Therefore, this paper will put Chi Li in the film and television backgroundto research and strive to broaden the academic study space of Chi Li. This paper isdivided into three parts. The first part is the relationship between film and literature. Bycombing the China movie and TV adaptation it shows the great influence which literarypolicy and literary works have on the development of China film industry. Then itexplores the internal relationship of literature and film. From this, we know the literatureis the guarantee of screenplays’ quality and audience rating, in return, film enriches theexistence of literature in the new period. The second part is the agreement of Chi Li’snovels and the film adaptation. In terms of content, Chi Li’s novels focus on the daily lifeof civilians, the love and marriage life and social development, which makes theadaptations easily accepted by the audience. From a technical perspective, all, thereadability of her novels’ plots, language actability, and the narrative viewpoint in alldirections is in agreement with the requirement of film and television, even easy tooperate. The third part is the influence which film adaptations have on recreation andaesthetic tendency of Chi Li’s novels. In order to meet the visual demand, directorsrecreate novels in the aspects of characters and the plot, but it also misreads the aesthetictendency largely. Furthermore, it weakens the literariness and female consciousness ofChi Li’s novels. The author hopes this topic can bring some inspiration to the research of Chi Li andthe film adaptation.
