“Marriage” phenomenon appears from literature and film has been a major concern,many scholars have been doing in this regard the efforts, but the vast majority of subjectsselected from Chinese film and television works not from the foreign works. With theBritish drama widespread in the world in recent years, these works has started to beconcerned. Many of them are adapted from the literary classics and they are veryexcellent. In this paper, Sherlock Holmes film and television adaptations of British fictiondrama “Sherlock” as an example, combing the Sherlock Holmes novels in the last coupleof years has been adapted into a film and television works of its cultural background andanalysis of the characteristics of each work of adaptation.The second part of this study analysis the communication strategy of “Sherlock”. Asit was producted in the profound that British drama film production Seiko secret agentsand so have to catch up the U.S. drama trend, so “Sherlock” can be said it was arepresentative in this environment. Even in mainland China, United Kingdom, and NorthAmerica, it is not easy as an adaptation to break the ratings record. So, studying itscommunication strategy is very necessary. This article from the enhanced collectivememory of intertextuality, the use of new media technologies and the performance of thethree major aspects of film and television adaptations innovative approach to bediscussed. Selecting a reasonable and appropriate way tocarry out adaptations of literary works, the “win-win” good situation maybe just roundthe corner.
