Xinjiang dietetic culture is one of the most important aspects of the introductionof Xinjiang to foreigners. However, in the translation of Xinjiang snack names withethnic characteristics, there are such problems as one food with several Englishnames or substandard English names. Such kind of translation may fail to achieve thegoal of introducing Xinjiang to foreigners. This paper tries to discuss some typicaltranslation problems of Xinjiang snacks in perspective of Cultural Schema Theory,probe into several English versions of common Xinjiang snack names and offerseveral proposals as reference to readers, attempting to standardize the translation ofXinjiang snacks with ethnic characteristics. |
