Nowadays,music is regarded as an instrument of inducing emotion,for there arethree significant benefits: firstly,music can induce strong emotionexperience;secondly,compared to still visual pattern,the emotion induced by music ismore accord with people’s current affect;lastly,music can induce not only positiveemotion,but also negative emotion.Lately,many study finds many theory and try toexplain the relationship between emotion and cognitive control from phychology andmetal mechanism.Capacity theory believes that nomatter positive emotion nornegative emotion can occupy cognitive resource.Emotion conduct as informationtheory tthink that positive emotion has negative effect on task executing,whilenegative emotion has positive effect on task executing.Positive emotion promotingtheory argues that positive emotion can activate plenty of positive remebers andideas,as a result the flexbility and innovation of cognitive process are improved.Many studies has used videos,pictures and so on as induce emotion materialsabove.People try to explore the effect of emotion on memory and cognitiveflexibility.However,few study explore the relationship between emotion and repetitiveprogress.And the studies about emotion effect on cognitive progress haven’t get anessure conclussion.The reasons probably are the difficulty of task conducting,the needof innovating or carefullness for task conducting.But,the task used to detect flexibilityand retentivity in experiment always simply.While we employ AX-CPT,what wouldthe relationship between emotion and cognitive control.So,we decide use music as away of inducing emotion and explore the effect of emontion on cognitive flexibilityand retentivity.In the study,we select ten pieces of music,among which five pieces of mucis wascalculate induce positive emotion and the others induce negetive emotion.Tenparticipatent evaluate them from enjoyment,arousal and the type ofemotion.Then,choose a music as positive inducing which get high score on enjoymentand defferentiation of emotion is pleasant,and choose a music as negative inducing whice get low score on enjoyment and defferentiation of emotion is depress.Also,thetwo pieces of mucis are similar on arousal.The first experiment in the study use AX-CPT explor the chage of cognitiveflexibility and retentivity on positive emotion inducing,negetive emotion inducingmusic and no music.The experiment use between group design,91participantents arerandom allocation to three groups.As a result,AY and BX cost more time on positiveemotion inducing music than no music,while negetive emotion inducing music has nosiginificant effect on cognitive control compare with no music.The second experiment use AX-CPT modification test the change of cognitiveflexibility and retentivity on positive emotion inducing and no music.The experimentalso use between group design,55participantents are random allocation to twogroups.As a result,AY cost less time on positive emotion inducing music than nomusic,while positive emotion inducing music has no siginificant effect on BXcompare with no music.The study explore how different emotion influence cognitive flexibility andretentivity,and we get conclusion as followed:negetive emotion inducing music has nosignificant effect on cognitive control, positive emotion inducing music impair theretentivity of cognitive progress,but positive emotion inducing music improve theflexibility of cognitive progress.
