Literature Review On Metaphor Translation Study Abroad

This thesis is a literature review, which attempts to conclude the achievements ofabout48theses on metaphor translation abroad that have been selected in order tolearn from the essence and discard the dross. Hence, translating scholars at home canuse the research findings for reference more or less and also make some innovationson metaphor translation, which can also avoid the shortcomings in the previous studies.As a matter of fact, metaphor is academic content closely related to people’s daily life,therefore, the powerful practicability promotes more scholars to focus on this study.What’s more, metaphor also exists in various subjects, and it is acceptable to say thatwhere there is language there is metaphor. Therefore, this thesis aims at presenting thecurrent situation of metaphor translation abroad through amounts of researches and afollow-up summary so that other scholars can use it as a reference in their laterresearches and more importantly the cultural exchange among all the countries in theworld can be achieved.Except for summary and conclusion as the main purpose of this paper, it will alsoevaluate the development of metaphor translation abroad, combining the review andthe evaluation. Compared with metaphor translation at home, the study abroad coversbroader research areas, such as technology, business, medicine, etc.; and multiplelanguages, such as Spanish, French, German, Persian, Portuguese, more than tenlanguages. It also utilizes the great outcome of the translation in21st century, that is tocombine corpus with translation and the study of translator’s thought during thetranslating process also catches scholars’ attention. And all of these are still new to themetaphor translation study in China.
