Metaphor is a cognitive activity that a particular area of humanexperience will be used to explain or understand the experience of another kind in thefield. Metaphor is a way of thinking." Getting inspirations by observing humanbodies and the universe.". A typical feature of early human thinking is to put yourselfas a measure of all things around.In the face of those abstract things, people began touse their body parts to be described, which slowly become a typical way of thinking,but also an advanced stage of cognition.Metaphors is based on human experience, according to the differences betweenthe metaphor in the word reflected in English and Chinese, we can analysis thedifferences between the two languages in-depth, and to explore the history andculture as much as possible behind the two languages, and the impact of differentsocial development to the language. Currently, research on human metaphor has beenthe focus in the subject in cognitive linguistics, this paper will take the word group"head" as an example, using the relevant theory. It classified the” head" metaphor inboth English and Chinese, analysis and compare the two different metaphors.The original intention of this paper is to search the "head" example exhaustivelyto conduct a comprehensive study, especially focuses on the analysis of thesimilarities and differences in English and Chinese metaphors of “head”. This Articleswill start with two theories "conceptual metaphor theory" and "Philosophy”. We willdivided the word group "head" in Chinese and the word in English into threecategories,spatial metaphors, structural metaphors, and physical metaphor. Thenanalysis and summaries according to the meaning of the word “head” in "ModernChinese Dictionary" and "the" Oxford Advanced Learner Dictionary ",the metaphorof the word” head” and the constitute way of metaphorical. But the key rule of thearticle is to analyze the differences and similarities between the two semantic meaningin the network. Finally, this article summarizes the research point of view, and hopingit could direct the future research.
