Analysis About Marx And Engels’s View Of Human Dignity

Since the moment of the self-awareness awakening, people have not give up thepursuit of dignity. Marx and Engels inherited the views about human dignity fromtheir predecessors. They established their own theory based on the historicalmaterialism.In the theory, labor is the center link, and the ultimate aim is to realizepeople’s free and overall development. This paper intends to return to the Marxismclassical text, and try our best to give an accurate definition to the meaning of dignityand it’s type. In this paper, we use the history and literature analysis research methodto clarify the conditions of the cause of dignity and its generation logic which arebased on the Marxism basic point,and we tried to understand the reason of humandignity lost and how to reset human dignity in the materialist perspective. Through theanalysis of their concept of dignity, we hope to be able to have an accurateunderstanding of that.From the article on the structural arrangements, we tried to explore Marx andEngels’s view of dignity from four parts: the first part mainly explains the essence ofdignity. The second part aims to analyze the produce condition of their view of dignity,the third section describes how Marx and Engels discusses human dignity wastrampled, according to the phenomenon, they proposed the implementation ways torebuild dignity. The fourth section is a brief summary of this article. In this section,we pointed out that their concept of human dignity is a scientific theory which isbased on the historical materialism, the doctrine of people’s free and comprehensivedevelopment and the labor theory.In the first part, we have a basic introduction to the meaning of dignity and type.Due to the dignity involves many fields, there are many understandings about thehuman dignity. We think that dignity is the evidence of the existence of subjectivity.These different understanding makes dignity from multiple angles can be divided.According to the dignity of social attributes we divide it into grade dignity, human dignity, and citizen dignity, and according to the spirit of dignity attribute we thinkdignity contains the self-esteem, respect for others and get others recognized.The second part is the analysis of the basis of the produce of dignity.Based on thehistorical materialism, they started their theory from the social reality, and pointed outthat the reality man and the material living conditions are the necessary objectiveconditions of human’s dignity. At the same time, the generation of dignity also cannotleave the people’s free will, subjective need and so on. Labor is the bridge between thesubjective and objective conditions.The third part is tried to analysis the loss of human dignity and how to realize thereset of human dignity. At first, we have to state human dignity are trampled fromtwo aspects: the workers are still in a low economic position and the citizens’ basicpolitical rights can’t get fully realized. Then, according above case, Marx and Engelstry their best to find the way to restore the human dignity.The forth part is the summary of this paper, it is pointed out that their view abouthuman dignity is based on historical materialism, labor is the connection, the ultimatepurpose is to realize everyone’s dignity and the freedom development.
