The Negativity Of Art

Adorno is the superintendent of Frankfurt Institute of Social Research. This paper presented the topic of negativity of art by researching the aesthetic theory of Adorno. Adorno’s aesthetics due to have a non-identity, ultra objectivity and negative characteristics also called negative aesthetics.Its object is modern art and the culture industry of the capitalist society, and argued autonomy of art innovatively, stated the truth content of art. This paper analyzes the basic characteristics and philosophy, realistic, historical sources of negative aesthetics. Then study the critique of culture industry as affirmation and tool of ideology integration offered by negative aesthetics. Controlled by the logic of commodity exchange lost the autonomy, to be autonomy requires opposite to the social reality and show the hideous. Only negate the reality art has its autonomy and keeps the truth outside the instrumental reason.My point of view of Adorno’s aesthetic theory is based on the relation between art and reason. Criticized the rationalist view of art combining the academic argue. Emphasize the rational part of art not as a sensibility form is wrong. Truth is the condition of beauty. Only emphasize the truth of art neglect the foundation. Art lost beauty by owe the truth through negation. It is not the true autonomy making truth the only judge of beauty. Art is the unity of the truth, the good and the beauty. Perform music is a practical activity to achieve real art sublimation.
