In the long term, the poetry of Eight Banners, as an important part of Qing poetry, has reached its prosperity in the times of Qianlong and Jiaqing emperor after Shunzhi, Kangxi and Yongzheng emperor. Menglin is an important poet among the group of poets of Eight Banners. Combined with the life experience of Menglin, there will give a deep analysis of his poems to search the thought connotation and the style of the poems. The aim of this thesis is to make up the deficiency of the study of Mongolian Han poets of Qing dynasty, get to know the social status of Mongolian poets of Qing dynasty, and have knowledge of the special contribution of Mongolian Han poems of Qing dynasty in the whole history of Qing poetry.This thesis will be divided into three chapters. Chapter one will study the life experience of Menglin, his family members, and his friends. Through his life experience, family and his friends, these three parts can help us to understand the thoughts of Menglin’s poems and give a rough judgment of the time of his poems. In chapter two the author will analysis the content of Menglin’s poems. Firstly, the writer will divide his poems into five types, and then will list the representative works of each type, state the content of the poems and give the level of ideological content of the poems. The last chapter will study the style of Menglin’s poems. His poems contain all kinds of styles and are good at narrating. The words are concise and natural. Primitive simplicity, wildness, gloom, and elegance all can be seen from his poems. Through the analysis in this chapter, this thesis interprets the artistic value of his poems. The conclusion part is the further explanations of Menglin’s poems.
