At present, the academic study of Li Bihua’s creation mostly concentrated on thefield of novels, and there is only a few simple appreciative journal papers about herprose. There are many scholars who have mentioned Li Bihua’s prose creation, butalmost no monograph has done a systematically theoretical analysis on them. Therefore, we can say that the research of her prose is still in a blank state. One of thereasons for this situation is that there are so many essays that we can’t collect all ofthem, Another reason is that Li Bihua’ prose is unlike conventional prose as heressays have complex ideas and content, so we can’t study it from the aspects such aslanguage or imageries, therefore, it’s hard for researchers to find a way to analyze it.This paper emphatically interprets Li Bihua’s prose and examines the relationshipbetween Li Bihua’s prose text and culture text from the angle of the westernpost-modernism intertextuality to deeply dig the connotation of prose creation on thebasis of discussing Li Bihua’s prose texts and novels, traditional culture, civic culture’intertextuality. This thesis consists of there parts: introduction, main body and conclusion.Introduction section summarizes the research status of Li Bihua’s writing andelaborates the theory of Intertextuality, especially the Intertextuality theory thatpapers related. On the basis of that, we point out the significance of intertextualitytheory research in Li Bihua’s prose as well as the specific research ideas of this paper. The first chapter analyzes the intertextuality of prose and her fiction from aninternal perspective, and we emphasize the significance of the studies of Li Bihua’sprose in the analysis and find the cause of her prose style as well as a wider meaning. The second chapter explains the phenomenon of intertextuality in Li Bihua’sprose text and Chinese traditional culture from the external perspective to explore theLi Bihua’s attitude towards traditional culture, and we can also understand theauthor’s view of fate in the specific cultural environment of Hong Kong. The third chapter reads the status of the literature and culture in Hong Kongtoday on the basis of analyzing Li Bihua’s prose and citizen culture. Conclusion part points out that Li Bihua’s prose is harsh, critical, and passionate, which shows humanistic care, besides, it’s also shallow, vulgar and indifferent. HongKong’s unique consumer culture creates Li Bihua‘s prose, and her prose is both thebeneficiary and the victim of the consumer culture. Li Bihua’s prose text may beshallow, but it can’t stop author thought shining in the prose, and the author’s unique life experience and cultural concept is in it.
