This report is based on the author’s interpreting experience in the World Bank’s Feasibility Study of the Urban Transport Project in Yunnan Honghe Prefecture (from July to August,2013). The task is to interpret for the technical team from Shandong University during the discussion with World Bank experts and Yunnan Honghe Prefecture government, in the hope of achieving financial support from the World Bank for the local community’s urban transport construction. The report is composed of four chapters:Task Description, Pre-task Preparation, Professional Ethics and Its Enlightenment to During-task Interpreting, and Post-task Feedback and Self-reflections.The interpreting report gives an overall description to the background and Requirement of the interpreting task before introducing the Pre-task Preparation in detail—defining the form of interpreting, preparing for the content of task, and interacting with the client. It focuses on the professional ethics and its enlightenment to three typical cases in during-task interpreting, analyzing the components and significance of the interpreter’s professional ethics. Chapter Four is Post-task Feedback and Self-reflections, which includes feedback from the client and the World Bank experts, as well as self-reflections of the interpreter on the interpreting task.In conclusion, with the author’s description, analysis and self-evaluation towards her interpreting task in World Bank’s Feasibility Study of the Urban Transport Project in Yunnan Honghe Prefecture, the report explores the components of professional ethics and emphasizes its enlightenment and value in the practice of interpreting.
