The jianghan transport is the important route for supplying materials in Tang dynasty, especially after the rebellion of An and Shi. When the canal transport breaks off, the jianghan transport begins to play an increasingly prominent role, is essential to sustain Tang dynasty. The jianghan transport consists of shangshang-wuguan path and shangjin path, which take different effects in different period. It is the key the Tang dynasty manages and the military governors fight for.In the early stage of tang dynasty, the importance of the jianghan transport reflects in business affairs. After the rebellion of An and Shi, the jianghan transport begin to show its essentiality. With fighting for Central Plains between the Tang dynasty and the military governors, imperial court pays more attention to how to control this area. For example, human affairs, moves of troops, and so on. From Xuan zong appointing Li Lin for senior officer in Shannan, to Su zong calming down Li Ling’s insurgence. From Lai Tian being hard to control, to Daizong putting him to execution. From De zong putting Liang Chongyi to death with Li Xilie, to Li Xilie building up his strengths in Huaixi. From Li Xilie colluding with the military governors in Hebei, to Xian zong capturing Caizhou in a snow night. All of above, each people and each event shows competition between the Tang dynasty manages and the military governors.After period of Xuan zong, the Tang dynasty begins to be on the decline. In order to guarantee the smooth of the jianghan transport, and keep the supply in Jingji, the Tang dynasty makes the greatest efforts in political, economic and military terms, and pays dearly for that. Even though in some period the Tang dynasty gains success, all of the country goes Toward the abyss.
