Karol Szymanowski(1882-1937) is a famous patriotism composer in Poland during the20th Century. His work has broken the close and backward situation of Poland Music after Chopin. His work was widely studied and played by the modern scholars until20th century. After three important periods of music creation, he went on a road of national characteristics. Thus he becomes the key figure who develops Poland music. His innovations have developed the modern Poland music rapidly.In this paper, we introduce the social history method and the test study for Szymanowski’s "the Variations on a Polish Folk Theme". It is created in his early stage, which is promoted for his national characteristics in the later creation. We summary Szymanowski’s creative processes briefly. In addition, we also analyze the influenced factors such as politics, culture and etc. Performances of three different concert performers are analyzed in the microcosmic and macroscopic views. We analyze the Variations on a Polish Folk Theme profoundly, including musical form, melody, rhythm, mode and etc. The innovative character of Szymanowski has been explored, mining the aesthetics thoughts of both eastern and western society deeply, which is highly valued in the aspect of aesthetics. In this paper, we try to demonstrate,"the Variations on a Polish Folk Theme" vividly which is a good way to show the great composers’personal emotions, such as enthusiastic, anger and pain, and profound national emotion.
