A Report On The Translation Of National Chung Cheng University Regulations

In recent years, with the continuous development of China’s opening-up policy, more and more universities tend to accept overseas students. The accurate and appropriate rules and regulations will not only help these students to adapt the campus in a better way, but also promote school’s external image, strengthening the educational and cultural exchanges. Consequently, translation of such file plays an important role.This translation is related to the regulations of National Chung Cheng University (CCU), one of the cases during the author’s school life. Based on the analysis of the characteristics of the original text and frequently-used translation skills in this project, this paper represents the whole process of a specific translation, from the beginning to the end.The paper falls into six parts. The first part describes a brief introduction of this paper, including the basic information of the text; the second part analyzes the language characteristics of the original text based on lexical features and sentences features; then, the main translation strategies are the third part and the type of program text is determined by Newmark’s text typology; in the following fourth part, the author provides some pretreatment methods with supplementary means and the content of the fifth part focuses on the frequently-used translation skills in this project; the last part makes a general conclusion of the whole paper.
