In the contemporary,’Shehuo’is still prevalent in the village, but rare in the city.’Shehuo’is a New Year tradition in Tianshui City for a long time, and still being significant in the city’s cultural activities today, with a special fixed form of organizing process, time and content. Along with the city’s economic development and progress of the society, these comprehensive art forms and organizations have to make a change and to adapt to the space of new era. With the gradually development of intangible cultural heritage protection work, many performance of the comprehensive art has respectively declares into every level of list for intangible cultural heritage protection project. As a result, its operation mode has become different about the traditional style, which strictly abide by the traditional rites and taboos, act spontaneous and in particular time. It began to appear in some new arenas, to develop new expression and purpose. Urbanization has increased the degree of integration of urban and rural in economy, culture and politics that city and suburb towns interacted more frequently. In terms of’Shehuo’, it has formed a special mode, the city and suburb towns maintain their respective characteristics and cooperation on the times. There highlights many new features, such as the intervention of courses about intangible cultural heritage protection, reproduction of folklores, the status variation of women in the folk custom activity, as well as the operation mechanism of cooperation between urban and rural areas in the city cultural activities, etc. All these have reflect the new existence of’Shehuo’these days. This article attempts to explore the inner drive of changing of’Shehuo’, from the phenomena of content replacement, and interactive activity between urban and rural. It also focuses on the influence on the cultural ecology of this area by the changes of concept, life style, and social relations, which was caused by the urbanization.
