Children books are the important mediums and critical enlightenment toolsfor children to perceive the world, develop their intelligence and acquire differentaspects of knowledge. Design of children books is significant and responsible toeducate the future masters of our nation. With the development of experienceeconomy, design concept and further investigation on book design, the concept of“five senses” has been applied in children books. However, most of these books withsense experience design only seek unilaterally and deliberately the superficial sensorypleasure, resulting in neglecting the stimulation of children’s potential according tothe characters of their sensitive periods. Therefore, how to conduct children bookdesign for children with different sensitive characters at different age stages, in orderto stimulate their reading interests and improve the development of their potential, hasbeen attracted more and more attentions.Design of children book based on the experience of auditory and tactile senseswas discussed in the following six chapters. Firstly, the background and researchstatus home and abroad were introduced in Chapter one; Secondly, the currentsituation and development trend of children book designs (i.e., interaction design,emotion design and sense experience design) were analyzed in Chapter two; Thirdly,the physiology mechanisms of auditory and tactile senses, and their functions inchildren book designs were stated in Chapter three, respectively; Fourthly, thepromotion and basic essentials of sense experience designs in children’s books wereexplored in Chapter four, based on the analyses for the excellent children readings;And then the design thoughts, methods and principles of auditory and tactile senseexperiences were raised up and applied into practice to explore the design process ofchildren book designs integrating with sense experiences in Chapter five; Finally, asummary and corresponding prospects were given in Chapter six.On the base of theoretical analysis and practical application, capturing thesensitive characters of the children below six years, the new design concepts and methods were explored in the thesis. The design thoughts, methods and principles ofauditory and tactile sense experiences in book designs for the sense-sensitive childrenwere presented. The importance of the combination of the sense experience designwith sense-sensitive characters in the design of children books was also revealed.These results are worthy for the further study or applications in children book designs.
