Books are the ladders of human civilization progress and the carriers of humanthought.and they are also the junctions which are playing an arousing and guiding role in thechildren’s growth and education because children, just like a white board, are eager to knowthis colorful world and hold the key to knowledge and wisdom through a variety of children’sbooks. However, unlike adults, young children rely more on the sense of touching, feeling orseeing to know all new things. Thus, about the design of children’s books, we should focusmore on the experience of touching and interactive reading.Only in this way, can we greatlyincrease children’s interest in reading and help them understand the unknown world better. With the analysis of children’s psychological and physiological characteristics of differentages, this paper not only tries to make a new breakthrough in children’s books design but alsoprovides new theoretical basis for children’s books design from the perspective of visual andtactile sense.First of all, the paper analyzes the situation of the publishing and designing markets onchildren’s books and summarizes the problems in the designing of children’s books in ourcountry. At the same time, it shows the significance of delivering the visual and tactileexperiences. Secondly, the paper comes to a conclusion that the children’s sensoryexperiences in reading are very important, on the basis of analyzing the physiological andmental as well as the aesthetic preference on books of young children from1to3, offering thetheoretical support for the following discussion. What’s more, the paper tries to findbreakthroughs by analyzing various practical cases about the children’s visual and tactileexperiences in reading. Last but not the least, by analyzing each visual and tactile element ofchildren’s books, the paper also puts forward a new conception that diversity should be putinto the designs of the Children’s books, which guides the practice of designing and the thesis.I hope that I can provide more comprehensive advice on the children’s books designthrough the discussion and research on diversified book design involving children’s visualand tactile sense.
