There is a great mount of “Xshi” existing in modern Chinese. Languageexpression modified by “Xshi” could become more accurate and vivider. The articlewhich is based on authentic language material makes description and interpretation of“Xshi” from various angles and levels.The article is divided into seven chapters.Chapter1. The research value, the research status, the research objects and thesource of language material were introduced.Chapter2.“X” and “shi” were investigated by different routes. It explored thecharacter, function and sematic of “shi” in “Xshi”, and interpreted the syllablecomposed, language unit, grammatical feature of “X” in “Xshi”.Chapter3and4. It is the vital part of the article. The character, sematicrepresentation, syntactic function of “Xshi” were illuminated with a lot of examples. Inaddition, there are two semantic relationship between “Xshi” and the central word, oneis sematic correlation which can be explained by conceptual metonymy, the other issemantic similarity which can be explained by conceptual metaphor.Chapter5. A combination of “Xshi” and the central word was termed thecompound of “Xshi” this paper. This chapter analyzed the compound of “Xshi” fromsyllable, structure, sematic, function and pragmatic, and gave some interpretation ofcause of the compound of “Xshi” through the theory of cognitive linguistics andsociolinguistics.Chapter6. This chapter explained that why so many “Xshi” exist in modernchinese from the perspectives of sociology, linguistics and psychology.Chapter7. The production and development of “Xshi” are currently trend,whichexpand Chinese combination, enlarge Chinese vocabulary and compact language expression.
