On-site interpretation——this is the oral way to expressinformation from one language to another. As an important part oftranslation, it has a s ignificant place in international communication.No matter whether a high-level meeting between the country’spolitical figures or a simp le business meeting, On-site interpretationis an important way to obtain reliable results. With the globalizationof trade, the strengthening of international trade cooperations, theneeds of interpreters in the course of business meetings, exhibitionsand on-site construction, the value of on-site interpretation inconstantly increasing. On-site interpretation is widely used in manydiffferent fields of social life, and it is an issue worthy of furtherexploration.However, under the background of expanding domestic andinternational demand for interpreters, the start of interpretingresearch and its development are lagging significantly behind.Business in particular suffers from an acute lack of interpretiveresearch. Unfortunately, there is little to no current system in place toaddress this issue. In light of this, this paper will examinethe fo llow-up meeting of the Central Asian Regional EconomicCooperation held in Hohhot, China on June4-6,2012. It will be astudy of the theoretical basis of interpretation, translation,linguistics,psycho logy and other related discip lines, and the difficulties therein.The paper will focus especially upon the process of On-siteinterpretation from Russian to Chinese language, and from Chinese toRussian in such an environment, summarize the factors affecting thequality of On-site interpreters, and suggest possib le solutions to the current unacceptable situation.
