Nowadays in fields of design,architecture,development and policy,more and more people start to attach importance to the design of the metro signage and wayfinding system,because it makes a complex space environment increasingly humanized.This paper analyzed origin and development of signage and graph theory.On the basis of modern design theory and methods,it introduced site factors into the design of the metro signage and wayfinding system and aimed at expanding design ideas and design methods of China's current metro signage and wayfinding system.Taking Shanghai Metro Line 2 as an object of study,the paper comprehensively analyzed the geographical position of the station.What's more,in combination with urban site factors,cultural and regional characteristics and line features and on the basis of modern design theory,it explored and studied design methods of a metro signage and wayfinding system with influences of site factors.It pioneered a new field to reflect site factors in the visual guide system.According to research on Shanghai Metro Line 2,it is not difficult to find that it still has many problems in respect of space environment design.For example,though the subway station is complex underground space,overground and underground space at the station lacks a proper connection.Today most subway stations are isolated and lack filling of regional culture and site factors.As a result,it brings lots of inconvenience to people's travel.It can be seen that the current society not only requires transportation function of a subway station,but also requires comfortable travel experience.The Shanghai Metro also carries out continuous progress and gradual improvement.With constant improvement of people ' s life quality,relations between metros and cities are increasingly close.In addition,people gradually realize that proper wayfinding signage can not only convey information,but also enhance aesthetic quality of an environment and improve people's psychological experience.Metros not only have an obligation to promote the development of regional culture,but also promote the development course of the whole society.The wayfinding signage of the subway traffic space is a medium of city imagepromotion.Through research on Shanghai's regional culture and site factors,this paper redesigned graphic symbols of subway station names and to some extent,hoped to normalize the order of people's social activities,improve people's travel environment and make metro lines impress people more.It had profound influences on enhancement of people's life quality and idea of urban culture,and good propagation effects on China's humanistic characteristics.
