Apply New Composition Methods To Vietnam Highlands Gongs

Every country, every nation has its own definition of language, arts and culture, social and political economy. In the development of the present world, the conservation of traditional factor is indispensable.Vietnam has54ethnic minorities, are widely distributed in the north, the middle and the south of the country. In terms of music in particular, every region has its own distinct characteristics, closely associated with geographic location, language and the process of political and economic development.In recent years, Vietnam has a lot of music researchers working in Vietnam and around the world had studied about issuing and developing the traditional music in Vietnam.This has been demonstrated on25Nov2005when UNESCO regonized "Vietnam Cultural Space of Tay Nguyen Gongs" as "mouth masterpiece and intangible heritage of Humanity". This is not only the pride of the people of Vietnam in general, but of ethnic minorities in the Central Highlands in particular.It is my fortunate to have a chance to study musical composition at such a famous conservatory of music in the world, Shanghai Conservatory of Music. In the process of learning and researching. I learnt many things about composition, the most important thing is how to put together traditional music with new language of composition of Europe and the world.The study of mine is mainly revolved around the issue "how to combine the Tay Nguyen’s music with the western contemporary music today, on the basis of a combination of the typical instruments in the Highlands of Vietnam with western symphony".My analysis will focus more clearly on the new features performances of Tay Nguyen gongs. I highly appreciate to receive the comments of professors and the help from my dedicated guidance teacher:Professor XuJianQiang. My thesis will consist of three chapters:1. Briefly introduce Vietnam Highland ethnic minorities’culture and history of the musical life. Tay Nguyen’s music is always associated with folk festivals, customs and religious beliefs in the Highlands Vietnam. Descriptions and learn about some instruments and works written on the subject of Vietnam Highlands:Studying feature of some musical instruments in the Vietnam’s Highlands so that could be suited to the modern language of music in the world. 2. Study some new musical language for Vietnam Tay Nguyen gongs, apply new composition methods to Tay Nguyen gongs combine with western contemporary music.3. Analysis <<The sound of Mountain>>which have a combination Tay Nguyen Vietnam Gongs with western symphony orchestra.
