Under the background of China socialist market economy, with the specialcharacter of “pervasive”, Popular Culture is deeply embed in Chinese contemporarydaily lives and ideology, then hugely affects peoples’ thinking and living style. Sinceconstruction of the socialist market economy with Chinese characteristicsexperienced a short time and imperfect cultural management system etc factors exist,Chinese Popular Culture actually always "wade across the stream by feeling the way"during the course of development, it inevitably bring some negative effects topeople’s lives and social development. Therefore, in the practice of contemporaryChinese society, we cannot ignore the “rapier” effect of Popular Culture. For thisphenomenon, on the basis of learning and absorbing the results of previous studies,applying dialectical materialism and historical materialism as a guide, in line with theprinciple of seeking truth from facts, applying the method of conflict analysis andinterdisciplinary theory, referring to a large number of relevant documents, this articlemakes a rational analysis about the current situation of our country contemporaryPopular Culture development, tries to make deep analysis that how to use Marxismcultural concept to lead the development of contemporary Chinese Popular Cultureand interpret its scientific and feasible, to exert the positive effects of Popular Culture,thus clarifies its guidance importance for the development of Chinese Popular Cultureand socialist culture with Chinese characteristics Constructions.Firstly, this article sorts the Marxist culture theory, and then makes the definitionof the concept of Popular Culture from the perspective of the development of marketeconomy, investigates the economical background, social conditions, basis oftechnology and principal part that Chinese Popular Culture is generated from. The article makes an analysis of the positive role of popular culture in the promotion ofcultural sharing and democracy, expanding modern living space, promoting theformation of public unified value, and improving social and economic benefits, at thesame time, analyzes the issues like the imitation existing, disorder of value orientation,digestion of public subjectivity, excessive commercialization in the development. Andthen, based on the reality of contemporary China, this article discusses the dialecticalrelations of the popular culture and ideology, and thinks that the development ofpopular culture brings a new force into the theory of socialist ideology and expandsits methods of communication, meanwhile, the development of popular culturedilutes the people’s belief in socialist ideology and impact the socialist mainstreamvalues.This article makes the analysis about the necessity and feasibility of applyingMarxist culture theory to lead the development of popular culture, and thinks “lead”is the necessary of dealing with the transition ideological identity crisis response andthe cultural diversity, is the necessary of safeguarding national sovereignty andenhancing the Party’s governing ability, is the urgent necessary of popularizingsocialist core value theory to the public and ensuring the correctness of the go-aheaddirection of popular culture. During the leading process, Marxist Culture Theorycould integrate multiculture, lay the audience foundation for the popular culture, andcompete against the penetration of foreign values and the influence from feudalculture.“Lead” should adhere to the principles of the “people-oriented", follow thelaws of the market development of Popular Culture, focus on social and economicbenefits "win-win", inheritance and innovation, finally apply following “lead” paths:to deepen theoretical research and enhance the charm of lead; to lead the upgrade ofPopular Culture in aspects of the humanities, spirit and philosophy; to innovate the content and form of Popular Culture; to abandon the influence of consumer culture, tolead the public to build a scientific and civilized way of life; to complete the culturalmarket regulations and establish reasonable and healthy operation mechanism ofPopular Culture.
