A Related Study Of The Olds’ Superstition Psychology And Self-efficacy

Superstition, which is aroused by certain psychological needs, produces some distorted and illusive beliefs and behaviors because of misunderstanding of the objective things. It is a multi-level and multi-dimension organism, including three psychological components, that is, motivation, cognition and behavior. In this study, superstitious beliefs are motivated by their corresponding psychological needs, form a distorted understanding of the objective world and some corresponding behaviors. Based on the theoretical and empirical psychological research, this article will analyze the elderly superstitious psychology and discuss the definition, framework, current situation, characteristics and influential factors of the elderly superstitious psychology. Therefore, on one hand, it can enrich the research contents of superstitious psychology, on the other hand, it can provide a direction for the family and society to intervene the elderly superstitious psychology. So it has great theoretical and practical significance.With literature analysis and questionnaire survey, this study initially establishes the framework of the elderly superstitious psychology by the means of investigating it systemically, confirms its dimensions by the analysis of preliminary questionnaire items and exploratory factors and works out its formal questionnaire, which is tested by its validity and efficiency. Furthermore, current situation and characteristics of the elderly superstitious psychology are inspected, meanwhile, the relationship between the elderly superstitious psychology and general self-efficacy is also discussed in this dissertation. Some achievements of this study are as follows:(1) There are three factors included in the questionnaire:beliefs, motivations and behaviors. The questionnaire has good reliability and validity, and can be used as the measurement tool of research.(2) The whole level of the elderly superstitious psychology is relatively lower.(3) There are a lot of observe differences toward superstition because of different ages, educational level, income, living conditions of the elderly.(4) There are also a lot of observe differences toward superstition because of different gender and different marital status of the elderly. (5) It is not related between the elderly superstition and self-efficacy, so self-efficacy level can not be effectively predicted.
