Features And Strategies Of Translation On The Bidding And Tendering Documents In Transformer Industry

Advanced in technology, cooperation between multinational corporations is getting much closer, and outsourcing is more common in international trade. While, language, as a tool of communication, enables different countries to trades. Outsourcing involves the translation of tender document and it plays a key role in the world’s closer cooperation and outsourcing. As an English major student, the author of the thesis has been learning English since13years old. However, what the author has learnt is more about literature and linguistics and less about certain professional industry. So, when she begins her internship translating bidding and tender documents for TBEA Shenyang Transformer Group Co. Ltd, which involves in different jargon such as technical English, law and legal English, and contract English, some problems appeared. She author tried to put what she learnt into practice to solve the problems and writes this essay to express her opinion about the translation.This thesis is mainly based on her own translation work on tender document of the Philippine FDC Misaims Project that TBEA and SUMIC jointly taking part in. After the translation project is completed, this translation report is written with five parts. Part one analyzes the introduction of the project including the basic information of the Philippine FDC Misaims Project and the companies. Part two is the process of the translation, which includes the preparation before translation, translation, and proofreading after translation. Part three focuses on the features of vocabulary, which consists of the features of the power industry, legal English and contract English. Part four focuses on the features of sentences including long and complicated sentences. The last part summarizes the translation practice, including the perception of translation the translator has gained, translation lessons and leftover problems.
