Liu Zhenyun is an important and distinctive contemporary writer. He came from the remote and poor rural areas of Henan, and experienced the extreme hunger, the oppression of power and the confusion of famine. Liu Zhenyun’s writing of the peasants’living conditions is overall, which not only presents the embarrassment of the peasants’ daily life, but also goes deeply into the peasants’ spiritual dilemma. In the art of Liu Zhenyun, the embarrassment of peasants’ survival consists of two aspects:one is the peasants’ destiny depicted in his works, another is the confused stuggles in the daily life and the identity recognition of himself as a peasant writter.T he two aspects intertwined with each other and reflected each other. The embarrassme nt of peasants’ survival has been the pivot in the writting of the "New Realism"and the "New History".Different from the common narrative of hometown, hometown in Liu Zhenyun’s writings has never appeared with warmth. In order to pry into the black case work of power he tried to tear the mask of his hometown and even mocked at himself to reveal the complex entanglement in the power, the people and the history. He is not just a writer expressing his emotions who has the education background of Peking University’s Chinese Department in 1980s and had been influenced by the prevailing philosophy of that time but a writer longing for deciphering the truth of the reality and the history. We must regard his writing as a dynamic whole instead of one or several novels to study and analysis of this kind of the longing. This thesis divided into three parts:introduction, text and epilogue. The introduction part has combed the Liu Zhenyun’s writing process and the present academic research situation about him and proposed research conceives and cut-in point. The text part consists of four chapters. The first chapter discusses the narrative subject’s hometown feature. Because of the special identity of the disaster’s descendants, Liu Zhenyun focused on writing the survival of peasants, the rebellion of the country’s power and its historical generation when he debuted literature world. Review the 1942 reflects this identity consciousness most. The second chapter is about the peasants’ city experience. Many "Xiao Lin" with urban hukous can not find their positions and belongings and fall into the trivial life being exhausted. The third chapter discusses Liu Zhenyun’s analysis of the peasants’ speech difficulties, including the special "Li" and the peasants’ thousand years of solitude, which is a part of Liu Zhenyun’s peasants’ writing having great feature and depth. The fourth chapter showing Liu Zhenyun’s unique power of cognition and critical mode through analyzing Liu Zhenyun’s latest novel I’m not the Pan Jinlian.
