The Study On The Changes In Wedding Ceremony Of The Tujia Nationality’s Traditional

This paper chooses traditional marriage ceremony of Tujia Minority as the object of study, and it aims to reveal the changes of culture and values in rural area through the analysis of marriage behavior of the villagers, who live in Y village of Guizhou Province. As everyone knows, marriage is a significant event in villagers’ lifetime and it plays a very important role in villagers’ living world. Marriage ceremony, as a special cultural carrier, has a strong connection with villagers’ ideas, concepts and values. By the study of marriage ceremony, we can perspective the changes of villagers’ values and rural culture. Tujia traditional marriage ceremony is not only a simple program, procedure, or process of ritual, but also a set of symbolic and performance mode which prescribed by cultural tradition. Tujia people had created and accumulated their own traditional marriage ceremony for a long time, and they had already formed their unique national style and cultural carrier.There are a variety of research methods will be used in this paper, which include observation method, individual interview, literature research method, comparative analysis and so on. Through the using of these research methods, the paper will have a deep analysis of the changes of Tujia traditional marriage ceremony in Y village. Besides the preface, the paper will be divided into three parts:the first part mainly sketches the rituals and functions of tradition marriage, which means we will sort out the process of Tujia traditional marriage ceremony and summarize the three main functions of it; the second part mainly analyzes the changes and effect factors of Tujia traditional marriage ceremony, it makes a summary of the changes and the reasons that lead those changes through the study of Y village and other investigation data; the three part mainly explains the cultural shocks which are brought by the change of Tujia traditional marriage ceremony, it is easily to find through the research that with the development of society, the change of Tujia traditional marriage ceremony not only changes young people’s views of choosing spouse and their family values, and it also causes the fracture of Tujia traditional cultural resources and the identification of Tujia national cultural identity.This paper uses Tujia traditional marriage ceremony as an entry point, and it purposes to find out the problems which existed in the transition of marriage ceremony in Y village through the long-term study of real life world of a specific village and the comprehensive analysis of facts. The impacts that the change of Tujia traditional marriage ceremony had brought to its culture and people’s marriage concept has aroused widespread concern. In the era of globalization, there are important realistic meanings to study Tujia marriage ceremony. In order to better protect the customs and cultural resources of Tujia marriage, on one hand, we need to accomplish two "strengthen":first, strengthen cultural rescue and cultural processing of Tujia traditional marriage ceremony; second, strengthen cultural protection and cultural heritage of Tujia traditional marriage ceremony. On the other hand, we need to achieve two "combine":one is the protection of Tujia marriage customs should be combined with the education of Tujia culture, and at the same time, another is the inheritance of Tujia marriage customs should be combined with the tourism culture of Tujia area.
