| Today the glory of ancient Egypt is still remembered, the diligent and intelligentEgyptians are always recalled. In the boundless desert lies the Nile, flowing from south tonorth, which irrigated the agriculture of ancient Egypt, nurtured the ancient Egyptians. Nile isgreat, it nurtures the people of the whole Egypt, guarantees their living, development andpower. It is because Nile gave hope and vitality to Egypt that while Egypt went intocivilization period, most other areas of the world was still barbaric, thus ancient Egypt wasbound to come to civilization in a very early period. Egypt was a country with deep religioussentiment, whose life, work and every other aspect were endowed with mythology, and so didthe Nile, the river which gestated ancient Egypt civilization. As one of the most importantgods in ancient Egypt, the nature and cults experienced a series of development. Centered onthis topic, this thesis consists of three parts.The first part briefly introduces the the nature and history of Nile, including thegeography and environment of Egypt and the flood of Nile.The second part talks about the worship of the two Nile gods, Osiris and Hapi. For theformer, this thesis will discuss its function on the basis of its origin,clan and reason forworship, while the latter, as the most famous Nile gods, its origin, relations, center forworship, cults and myths or legends will be talked in this part.The third part discusses the Nile’ influence on ancient Egypt civilization, analyses itssignificance from various aspects, politics, economy, culture and technology, for example. |
