The Research Of Kunqu Opera Performances In Chewang Mansion

These Kunqu opera books are folk manuscripts which recorded the actual Kunqu opera performance conditions of that time and have the obvious characteristics of "performance". Kunqu opera performances collected in Chewang Mansion are important historical materials which reflect the Beijing kunqu performance of mid-to late of Qing dynasty, and this is the period witnessed the great change of Kunqu opera.This paper has a research of this batch of scripts from three aspects such as characters, themes and "Hua Ya battle", and the main body mainly include five chapters:The first chapter mainly introduces the general situation of Kunqu opera collected in Chewang Mansion. This chapter has in-depth discussion about key points which were not settled yet such as concepts and quantity of Kun opera performances and make clear the range of research objects in this paper.The second chapter mainly introduces the characters of Kunqu opera performances collected in Chewang Mansion. This chapter is divided into two levels:the first level has a discussion and comparison of text type between "the whole series" and "general speak"; the second level discussed the performance characters of this batch of plays from the performing of the text.The third chapter researches the subjects of Kunqu operas collected in Chewang Mansion. According to the content subjects, this batch of Kunqu opera performances can be divided into "history stories","supernatural legend","social politics","marriage and love" and "auspicious day". This chapter also researches the social psychology behind. The fourth chapter introduces the "Hua Ya battle" in Chengwang Mansion. Taking Kunqu opera performances as the center, this chapter explores the differences of Hua Ya reflected by scripts collected in Chengwang Mansion and Kunqu opera under the influence of local operas.The fifth chapter introduces the value of Kunqu opera collected in Chengwang Mansion. This chapter emphasizes the value of this batch of scripts and research significance in order to promote the development of Kunqu opera.In all, taking the Kunqu opera performances as the center, this paper hopes to sketch out the outline of Kunqu opera’s reform and development in mid-to late of Qing dynasty through the research and discussion of these Kunqu opera performances.
