National Image Collection

As for its inclusiveness and transcendence, Mr. Zhu Jianer’s works, which infuse the world music circles with a myriad of fresh blood, are well known at home and abroad; he is selfless and fearless in academic and persevering to explore music while upholding the truth; his piano works are not so many, but each of them is exquisite and unique. He likes to discover and innovate on music, especially dedicated to exploring Chinese national music, and his later works are almost drawn from the Chinese national folk. As young music learners in new age, we should take Mr. Zhu Jianer as an example, pay attention to folk music, love it and then inherit it.I chose "the Impression of the South" as the study object, because it fuses the western composing skills, performs the unique styles of five nations and build a unique artistic mood with a strong ethnic chic by the image description of the five nations. The five pictures in the work are independent and related mutually, which composed to a national image collection. And among them,"Children’s play", which is loved by younger musicians, had been collected in the piano grading portfolio ten edited by the Grading Commission of Chinese Musicians Association. It is also chosen to be a program in competitions.This paper put the performance analysis of "the Impression of the South" as entry point and the analysis of cultural connotations as research background; expand an intensive study annotation on the work style and characteristic showing in the Shea Gemini suite play CD recordings, as well as a profound work experience.This essay is divided into three chapters:The first chapter consists of two parts; it focuses on the introduction of the composer and his work "the Impression of the South". In the first part, it analyzes Mr. Zhu Jianer’s music life and art creation by using others’objective evaluation on Mr. Zhu Jianer as the mainline. In the second part, it analyzes the creation background of "the Impression of the South". It explores the folk reasons that impress the works’ mood and connotation relied on the source materials of the five works and foreshadows the analysis and annotation on his performance.The second chapter is to analyze the performance of the piano suite. Starting from the work construction and the skill analysis, combined with the creation background, it makes a detail analysis and annotation of the speed, strength and mood performing in Shea Gemini’s performing recordings.The third chapter is the analysis on the description of the author’s performance and the value orientation of the work. First, it explains the experience of the work, based on the study of the work background, the study of Shea Gemini performing version and performing practice. Second, it evaluates the aesthetic value, cultural value and social value of the work.This essay focuses on the analysis and annotation on "the Impression of the South". It is inspired by the former research results, and creatively recognizes the internal emotional clues between performance practice and aesthetic activities; meanwhile, it provides a reference for the performing research on Zhu Jianer’s composing style and the piano suite "the Impression of the South".
